20+ knot wind kayak sailing

We reached 7.8 kts. : 20+ (25+mph) with gusts to 30 . Water: ~ 60degF. Air: 60-65F?. Boat: Hobie Tandem Island Adventure (trimaran ); Camera: Sony DSC-TX5. Location: Point Lookout MD. Tried different points of reefing and at times (back in the harbor area where it was safer but still very windy) we were practically sailing with just a stick (mast with furled sail).
